[title]Impassioned[desc]Concordia University of Edmonton - Robert Tegler Student Centre Saturday, November 19, 2022, 7 – 9pm [image: Impassioned] CSO opens the 22-23 season with the mighty Symphony No. 5 by Tchaikovsky. The somber 'Fate theme' presented by the clarinet in the opening bars of the work sets the tone for a thrilling ride. A symphony of contrasts that is permeated by powerful melodies of ballet-inspired themes and tragic tones. The program includes Copland's Clarinet Concerto for clarinet, strings, piano and harp performed by the winner of the CSO Concerto competition and CSO first clarinet, Amber Campbell. This piece was commissioned by American jazz legend Benny Goodman. Copland here pays reverence to the style in an original and virtuosic take on the genre. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and are available from TIX on the Square (780.420.1757) or at the door. Special Family Admission: $40 (available at the door only).
