Voices of Peace

12116 102 Ave NW Edmonton, Ab, T5N0L6 Saturday, November 25, 2017, 7 – 8:30pm [image: Voices of Peace] It is difficult to be unaffected by daily news and troubling world events in 2017. How can we cope with such chaos? Put down Twitter, turn away from "fake news," and join Accord ensemble as we explore 21st century works that inspire hope and peace. The evening features the powerful Missa Pax by Vancouver-based composer, Timothy Corlis. As an active Canadian composer, Corlis too believes in the uniting power of music. Of his music, he writes, "Music has a unique way of reaching us at a deep level … these are spiritual experiences… soul experiences where music is shared as a profound gift. Deep truths emerge, we let go of anger and prejudice through tears and loving release." Our program will also feature works by Gjeilo, Pärt, LaVoy, and Runestad. Through these works we hope that you will find an escape - a musical hideaway that provides rest and hope. Accord ensemble presents this program in open defiance of the fear, hate, and intolerance that can some days appear to rule our world. On November 25th, we lift our voices in peace.
