Our Guest Speakers Lubna Zaeem: A psychologist in edmonton whose work leading outreach and counseling programs, as well as providing cultural competency training for government, law enforcement and service organizations, has earned her the Athabasca Volunteer Service Award, the YMCA Peace Medal, the Governor General's Sovereign Medal and Uof A's 2019 Alumni Award Winner. Dr. Nahla Gomaa: An ENT Specialist in Edmonton, Dr. Gomaa's community work ranges from mentoring medical students at Uo A to being a shura(advisory committee) member at Masjid Al Noor. In addition to running an Islamic School at the Masjid, she plays an active role in helping and adivising Muslim women. Kristy Hagan: Shelter Manager for Carol's House with Edmonton's WIN House. She works mainly with newcomers and many of the victims of human trafficking. Joy Gihana: A psychologist who moved to Canada ten years ago. Ms. Gihana has a master's degree in Counselling psychology. Over the years, she has supported hundreds of clients in need of family and mental health therapy. She also teaches in the faculty of Health Sciences at Norquest College here in Edmonton. The percussion trio, featuring Mark Segger, Martin Bui, and Graham Fast, will entertain you with an energetic set of percussion pieces including Andy Harnsberger's "Dark Passenger" and Jamieson Carr's "Double Take." The trio has adapted these two percussion ensemble pieces to the instruments currently available to them, and perform them in their own style. Theyo will also improvise on percussion, which will be sure to draw you in, experiencing a variety of grooves and rhythmic complexity!
