10086 MacDonald Dr NW Friday, May 20, 2016, 5 – 6pm Edmonton's Chronos Vocal Ensemble and Vancouver's Elektra Women's Choir present a concert that focuses on the music of Canadian composers. Of the eleven pieces on the program, eight are by Canadians, several of which will be in attendance at the concert. Chronos Vocal Ensemble is one of the youngest choirs in the festival – in its first three years the choir has been the recipient of the Healey Willan Grand Prize in the National Competition for Canadian Amateur Choirs, and is about to release its second CD recording entitled The Simplest Way, which includes several pieces by Alberta's Trent Worthington. Elektra Women's Choir has been a leader among women's choirs since 1987, and has commissioned more than 70 compositions and arrangements. A multiple national prize-winning ensemble, Elektra has performed at a number of conferences, including those of the American Choral Directors Association and the International Federation for Choral Music.
