Art Gallery of Alberta 2 Sir Winston Churchill Square Ongoing through Sunday, January 6, 2013 This exhibition showcases works by six contemporary artists who draw upon aspects of the historical Baroque: material excess, accumulation, bravado, theatricality, cultural hybridity and the construction of immersive, emotive environments. This presence of what could be called the 'neo-baroque' has, in recent time, been a recurring aspect of contemporary art in Canada and around the world. Featuring work by David Altmejd; Lee Bul; Bharti Kher; Yinka Shonibare, MBE; Sarah Sze and a new site-specific work by Tricia Middleton created for the AGA.
