The Art Gallery of Alberta (2 Sir Winston Churchills Square) Edmonton Alberta Ongoing through Monday, July 1, 2013 As part of their support of the Art Gallery of Alberta's New Vision capital campaign, the Mitchell family donated funds to establish ongoing acquisitions for the AGA's permanent collection. Focusing on works of art by living Canadian artists, the Mitchell Endowment allows the AGA to build its collection while also supporting artists. This exhibition features the first works that were acquired in 2012 with funds from the Mitchell Endowment. The works in the exhibition are by five Alberta artists from across the province: Robin Arseneault, Calgary; David Hoffos, Lethbridge; Chris Millar, Calgary; Royden Mills, Edmonton and Laura St. Pierre, Grand Prairie—all of whom have contributed to the AGA's exhibition history, but were under-represented in our collection. The AGA thanks John and Maggie Mitchell for their contribution to the AGA's New Vision capital campaign and for their initiative in establishing this important endowment, which will enable us to continue to build our collection for years to come.
